Player and sound
Playback, queue, output device, sound details and volume levelling.
Mini player and player
What is playing shows in the mini player above the tab bar. Swipe it sideways to change tracks, or tap it to open the player. In the player, too, you change tracks by swiping across the cover.
Queue
Tap Queue to see what comes next. There you can choose Mix the queue with AI (the AI orders it for the best flow), Save queue as playlist or Clear queue.
Where the sound goes
Under Play on you choose the output: On iPhone, headphones, AirPlay and Bluetooth, or your Sonos rooms (see Sonos). The player always shows where the sound is going.
Listen together
With Listen together, other iPhones nearby play through your iPhone, for example while it is connected to the car, without anyone switching the Bluetooth connection. On the iPhone that plays, tap Share this iPhone under Play on › Listen together or in Settings › Listen together; it shows a six-digit code and appears to others as “Sonivora Share”. On the other iPhone, tap “Sonivora Share” in the same place and enter the code. Whatever you start there then plays on the first iPhone; library tracks play if they are in its library too. Disconnect ends the connection, Stop sharing stops sharing.
If you quit Sonivora, the track, the queue and the position are back at the next launch.
Sound details
The small format label under the progress bar opens Sound quality: format, bit depth, sample rate, bitrate and level, each with What does this mean?.
Playback settings
Under Settings › Playback:
- Streaming quality for On Wi-Fi and Cellular. “Original” plays the file unchanged (e.g. FLAC); lower settings make the server convert it to MP3.
- Volume levelling: loud tracks play more quietly, based on your server’s loudness analysis.
- Preload: the next tracks load ahead of time, so there are no gaps.
Controls and cover also appear on the Lock Screen and in Control Centre.
