Getting started

Connect Sonivora to your server, with Plex, Jellyfin or Audiobookshelf, or just listen to podcasts.

What you need

An iPhone with iOS 26 or later and your own server with your music and audiobooks, running Plex or Jellyfin; audiobooks can also come from Audiobookshelf. For podcasts alone you need no server.

Connect to Plex

1. On first launch, tap Open sign-in page in browser and sign in to Plex. 2. Sonivora then shows Your servers. A green dot means Plex reports the server as online. 3. Tap a server to connect.

Rather not use a Plex account? Choose Connect Plex server manually and enter Address and token. You find the token in Plex Web under “View XML” on any item (the X-Plex-Token parameter).

Connect to Jellyfin

Tap Connect to Jellyfin, enter your server’s address and sign in with username and password. The password goes only to your server; afterwards Sonivora keeps just the access token, encrypted in the Keychain.

Audiobooks from Audiobookshelf

If your audiobooks live on an Audiobookshelf server, connect it on first launch with Connect to Audiobookshelf or later under Settings › Server › Audiobookshelf, alongside Plex or Jellyfin or on its own. Enter the address you use to open Audiobookshelf in a browser, tap Check server and sign in with username and password. The books then appear with your audiobooks, and Sonivora keeps your place in each book in sync with Audiobookshelf. The password goes only to your server; afterwards Sonivora keeps just the sign-in, encrypted in the Keychain.

Podcasts only

Just listen to podcasts skips signing in. Sonivora then shows only podcasts. You can add a server any time later under Settings › Server.

Assign music and audiobooks

Sonivora recognises audiobook libraries by their name. If yours is named differently, choose under Settings › Library › Assign libraries which library holds music and which holds audiobooks.

Switch server

Under Settings › Server, Plex, Jellyfin and Audiobookshelf sit side by side as equals. Sonivora plays music from Plex or Jellyfin: connecting the other one replaces the current one, while Audiobookshelf stays connected. Tapping your Plex or Jellyfin server opens Account & server. There you see how Sonivora is reaching it right now (Connection): on your home network or from elsewhere, and you find Switch server and Sign out.

If your server doesn’t notice new files by itself, for example because they live on a NAS, tap Scan library files in Account & server or under Settings › Server › Audiobookshelf. The server then looks for new and changed files; once it is done, Sonivora reloads your music for the AI and your audiobooks. You only see the button if you may manage the server: on Plex as its owner, on Jellyfin and Audiobookshelf as an admin.
